Modern Jazz dancing is taught by Sarah Cookney at Fish Hoek Primary school on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Grade R girls are fetched at 12h45, where they get dressed, then go and play in the Grade 1 Quad until the Grade 1 and 2’s finish school at 13h20. Everyone then goes together to the hall and starts dancing at 13h30. After class @ 14h15, they pack up and girls are taken to aftercare or the Grade R car park to be fetched. Once a term, the Parents are invited to watch their progress.
Sarah also teaches at the Methodist church in 1st Avenue every day of the week to all ages. Dancing starts Thursday 19th January. If you and your daughter are interested in joining SCAD, please contact Sarah directly. Girls that already enrolled, see you on Thursday. Dance attire is available through SCAD – please enquire – in the meantime, swimming costume and a pair of shorts is suffice. Boys...Boys love to dance, they just need to be taught the right way to dance. Sarah has a wonderful program that she picked up in New York that teaches boys co-ordination skills for all sports, that helps with sequencing and builds confidence. The benefits are enormous and the girls love boys that can “Lock and Pop”.
The boys that take it seriously will filter into the main modern styles of dance that SCAD offers like contemporary, Jazz, broadway, hip hop and theatre dance. Dancing starts Monday the 23rd January @ the Methodist Church hall in 1st Avenue @ 5pm till 5:45pm. For more info contact: Sarah Cookney Tel: +27 82 674 2139 |
