Emotional Support
"Confidence on the outside begins by living with integrity on the inside." Brian Tracy
At Fish Hoek Primary School we have a strong emotional support for our children. Our emotional support team is available to learners throughout the school day to assist with personal issues or issues involving other classmates, etc. Poor academic and behavioural performance fosters low self-esteem and a general negativity towards education, which in many cases results in learners not attending school regularly, and not progressing academically. Our aim is to provide learners with another chance to be successful.
Part of our Foundation Phase Programme is introducing the children to 'Gerry Giraffe' who teaches the children that there is always someone you can talk to. Gerry is our very special friend that we love to hug and write letters to and pop them in Gerry's special postbox. The EQ (Emotional Intelligence) Programme works through different issues with the children, giving them resources and essential life skills, which as usual, always goes hand in hand with a lot of fun!
